Introduction to the main screen

Last updated on

Note that this main screen is for those who have chosen English as their primary language.  BSW puts you in EnglishTown if you have chosen English, and it puts you in ARMfeld if you have chosen German (which is the default).  If you're in ARMfeld (and you'll know this because the picture won't look like the one below), either just follow along, or type "/room C10" in the command line.

So what do you see when you log in There are actually two possibilities if you have set you language to English, youll actually be plunked down in the courtyard of EnglishTown.  Otherwise, youll find yourself in ARMfeld the capital city of the Welt.  Below are pictures of each.

The screen itself is broken up into two parts the upper part with the graphics in it and the smaller lower portion which has the text/chatbox in it.  At the very bottom of the screen, below the text area, is the command line.  It is on this line where you will enter your text as well as any commands.

Now if you look at the upper portion of the screen, youll notice that the graphics are obscured by a few pop-up boxes with blue borders.  There is a larger rectangular box which has (GameYell SPV-Channel SPV) at the top and a squat rectangular box that has a bunch of names in it (one of which will be your own username.)

The SPV is one of the main mechanisms which you can choose what game to play.  But, were not there yet.  Youll learn more about that in Section V.  (But if youre too anxious, you can click here to go directly to that section).

The smaller box is the users present box.  Each location in the BSW is referred to as a room.  Room numbers are generally named in the following manner:  C(city number)-(room number).  For instance, Room C10-XX is room XX in EnglishTown.  This just happens to be the residence of lorna, and she has the game Puerto Rico in her room.  So you can probably infer then, that EnglishTown is City 10.  In fact, if you are in the courtyard of EnglishTown (i.e. not in any of the buildings), you are in Room C10.

If you look at both of these boxes, they have small red and green dots in their upper right corners.  If you click on the red dots, it will minimize the boxes.  But where do the boxes go?  Look down in the lower left corner now, this is the location of the BSW toolbar.  There should be XX circles with pictures in them.  Each of these circles, when clicked, will bring up one of those blue bordered boxes on the screen.

So, what boxes are opened by which buttons?

The SPV box which you just closed down is represented by the circle with two people standing next to each other.  The users present box is represented by the XXX.
