Introduction

BrettSpielWelt (aka BSW) is a online site found at http://www.brettspielwelt.de/ that allows you to play German style boardgames for free.  Its a great place to chat and play games with people from around the world at all hours of the day.   The site itself is physically located in Germany, and as such, much of the documentation for the site is also in German.  The designers of BSW have made many steps towards making it bilingual (German and English), but getting started on BSW can still be a daunting task.

There is online help in English, as well as multiple sites on the Net, to help you get started, but there isnt a nice up-to-date walkthrough to get you started.  When I became active in BSW again (Feb. 2003), I found that I had to consult many different webpages and ask plenty of questions from current users to get up to speed quickly.

What we propose to do with this webpage is: 1) provide a single page that provides a nice walkthrough to get started in BSW and introduce you to basics of getting around and 2) provide a single forum for English information on BSW.

We do not think that we are in any way the foremost experts in the workings of BSW so we expect help from the rest of the online community.  Please email me with any suggestions or corrections at: BSWGuide@BSWCities.com.  Thanks and enjoy!  Hope to play games with you online at BSW real soon!

This webpage is the result of the work of many different contributors including:  Dale Yu (yudp), Michael Weston (delta1119), Jeff Bakalchuck (The Boomer), Lorna Wong (lorna), Ken Hill (KenH).  Thanks to everyone who has helped out with this project!
